The T-90 is a third-generation Russian main battle tank developed from, and designed to replace the T-72. It uses a 125 mm 2A46 smoothbore main gun, the 1A45T fire-control system, an upgraded engine, and gunner's thermal sight.

For comparison, Turkish Altay tank project is quoted at €3.5 billion for the initial 250 tanks, which is €14M/tank but that includes R&D cost. Second batch is expected to cost around €12M/tank. Turkish wages are similar to Russian wages, $4.6M still sounds too low.
