9 wrz 2024 · On July 25, 2024, a tanker called “Terra Nova”, carrying 1.4 million liters of industrial fuel oil, capsized and sank near Manila Bay in the Philippines due to heavy rains caused by Typhoon No.3 and monsoon.
7 sie 2024 · An Oceana analysis of satellite imagery from the Philippine Space Agency shows the Manila Bay oil spill – resulting from a submerged oil tanker and at least two other vessels – covered 84 square kilometers on July 28, and 27 square kilometers as of July 30.
In addition, the Philippine Coast Guard and Philippine Space Agency are using NOAA potential oil extent maps derived from imagery captured by a number of satellites. The maps are available on the International Charter Space and Major Disasters’ website .
This map shows the locations of oil spills and other incidents for which NOAA's Office of Response and Restoration (OR&R) provided scientific support for the response. It also shows the locations of other major spills, but it does not show the location of every significant oil spill.

It also shows that some of the slick may pass through Caluya Island (Northwestern Antique) and could eventually reach Cuyo Island in Sulu Sea.
