2 gru 2002 · Answer: We should all avoid using terms "stop payment" and "cashiers check" in the same sentence. Cashiers checks are accepted by the drawee bank when they are signed by an employee; i.e., at the moment of issuance. The bank cannot revoke its acceptance by stopping payment.
If the payment hasn't been credited and your check hasn't cleared, you may choose to place a stop payment order on the original check and send another payment. If you choose this option, the IRS won't charge a dishonored check penalty.
