2 sie 2014 · I've recently uninstalled and I want to reinstall the game outside of program files but steam does not allow me to place it in another folder or perhaps I am just missing the browse button. All that comes up is a location in my program files and my external hardrive.
Steam only installs to the directory that will be revealed. There will be a folder in Documents (mine are in Documents/My Games) with save data, and maybe some other stuff, but that isn't the install directory.
I tried just copying and pasting the oblivion folder and restarting steam but that didn't work. It just created another folder in c:/programfiles (x86)/Steam/Steamapps/Common, and none of my mods showed up on the data files when I ran the game.
So I'm trying to mod my Oblivion, and I am reading that ideally you shouldnt stick with a default steam installation directory, and instead you should do something like C:/Games/Oblivion. How do I change a steam installation like that?
You can absolutely move your install folder via steam. Right click the game from your steam library > Properties > Local Files > Move install folder. You can also set up your Steam Library Folders to be off of the C drive, which is absolutely recommended for anything related to modding right at the beginning.
When I search in the steam store, regular non-GOTY Oblivion doesn't even show up, and none of the ones I click on say they are in my library. I'm so confused, I for sure purchased this game. Did Steam remove regular Oblivion?
I downloaded OBMM but says I need to choose Oblivion's Installation Directory to install it to. I've no idea where this is with Steam, can anyone help out? Thanks.
