26 lut 2009 · If you look in the Oblivion/data folder and see a bunch of .dds files, .nif files, .mp3 files they are in the wrong place. You need to MOVE them to the proper folders. .dds to the textures folder
When the game loads, it first checks the data folder for meshes and textures and loads them, if a file for a mesh or texture is not found in the data folder, then it's default file located within a .bsa is loaded instead.
[SOLVED]: If you have all DLC disabled to play vanilla on the STEAM GOTY Version. You're going to have to have the DLCShiveringIsles.esp active otherwise random meshes will be missing in the game. Thanks to user Cathyra for an in depth response and helping me solve this problem.
27 mar 2016 · If you've encountered yellow exclamation marks, these signal incorrectly installed or glitched meshes, in which case you need to add the .bsa file names of the added mod to the SArchiveList of your Oblivion.ini in your My Documents/My Games/Oblivion directory.
7 mar 2020 · I've been trying for hours to play oblivion. i downloaded yesterday and started up the game. i tried creating a save file so the oblivion documents folder was created to mod the game. the folder was not created. i then spent the next 6 hours scouring the internet to find a solution.
A solution someone said worked was to disable OneDrive sync for oblivion and to make sure your saves are in the default save location, [C:\Users\User\Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Saves], and make sure the .ini reflects that.
CTD on Startup usually indicates a missing master or a bad Oblivion.ini setting. Whenever troubleshooting crashes, try regenerating a fresh Oblivion.ini. Reinstalling Oblivion will not overwrite an existing Oblivion.ini, so clear it out along with the My Games\Oblivion folder for a clean sweep.
