10 lip 2022 · might be missing some old libraries that the game needs and may have failed to install. go to folder...\steam\steam\apps\common\oblivion\directx and run dxsetup.exe with admin permission. use repair option if there is one. run game from game folder .exe and NOT from your steam library or an icon. sometimes an error msg appears not hidden by steam.

21 mar 2020 · Good news is - as a quick fix the game is starting if initiated as admin. Bad news is that it still won't start when logged in as ordinary user. (However the same ordinary user is perfectly capable of starting Skyrim). As I was able to start the game as admin here's in detail what is happening:
10 lis 2023 · Try this:- Locate your Oblivion Documents folder. Turn the cloud off for Oblivion. 1 - Remove or delete the Saves folder. 2 - Delete the Blendstings, Oblivion and Renderinfo files. (The saves folder and data files are all contained in the Oblivion Documents folder. Oblivion will create new files the first time you load your game.)
When reinstalling, go to steamapps/common/Oblivion and delete everything there, this makes the cleanest reinstall. Try to launch it not through steam, bypass the launcher and go straight for oblivion.exe (might be named differently), launch it with admin rights.
Within the Oblivion key, add a string value with the name 'Installed Path' and set the value to the path to your Oblivion folder, making sure that the path ends in a backslash (C:\whatever\Oblivion\). You should be able to launch the game now. I've had to do this on every proton install, but it should work on Windows as well.
I just bought oblivion on Steam and while I can get the launcher to open, the game itself will not load. When i click play, the launcher just closes and then nothing happens. Here's what I've tried so far: Running in compatibility mode. Running in windowed mode.
