7 mar 2020 · I've been trying for hours to play oblivion. i downloaded yesterday and started up the game. i tried creating a save file so the oblivion documents folder was created to mod the game. the folder was not created. i then spent the next 6 hours scouring the internet to find a solution.
A solution someone said worked was to disable OneDrive sync for oblivion and to make sure your saves are in the default save location, [C:\Users\User\Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Saves], and make sure the .ini reflects that.
The .ess files for saves 356 through 359 are missing. Without them, you won't be able to load those saves. Here's what you can do: Make a copy of the save folder in a safe place. Don't move on to the next step until you're sure you have a good copy. Delete autosave.obse Rename autosave.bak to autosave.ess
You need to specify where your save folder is the oblivion.ini located in Documents\My Games\Oblivion or move your saves to the default location, Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Saves. At least, that is how it works normally for retail and steam versions.

According to the file itself "This file is used by Oblivion to keep track of your downloaded content. Please do not modify this file." The file goes on to list the ESPs you have purchased in a consecutive list much like Oblivion.ini/Oblivion_default.ini.
