FINAL UPDATE: well I figured it out, but it doesn't matter because I smashed my head into the computer several times out of frustration for my own DUMB. Apparently, that specific save file is corrupted BUT only if you save while you're playing it. Oblivion doesn't actually tell me it's corrupted.
Whereas if you manually install mods (dragging them to your data folder, replacing textures etc) you essentially are stuck with those mods unless you make backups of the to-be-altered files, and reimport those if you wish to deactivate it -- a.k.a. it's a mess, use the mod managers.
23 cze 2013 · I have recently bought Oblivion GOTY from steam but I couldn't find the data folder when i tried to install mods. There is no data folder in my program files or in my steam files. The game is installed and works perfectly.
25 sty 2013 · Right-Click Oblivion in your steam list, select properties, go to local files tab. Press verify integrity of game cache. Wait till this has run through and downloaded the missing files. Use this if not even the launcher appears or if you get "game not available" messages. Restart Steam.
Deleted oblivion.ini, and his video on clean installing, which means deleting the whole Oblivion folder where the exe and data are, the oblivion folder containing the saves under documents, and command+r “appdata” - local - oblivion as well.
If you want, you could move the Data folder to a temporary location. Then run the Setup from the disc and see if Oblivion auto-repairs. If it repairs itself, it will make a new Data folder with...
You can try deleting your Oblivion.ini and see if it fixes the problem. If not you can try removing the save from the folder and allow the Steam Cloud to replace it. Sometimes, although rarely, the Steam Cloud may have a non corrupted version of the save.
