Testing with a clean user folder, otherwise known as a factory reset, means temporarily removing all user data. This ensures that nothing from your existing folder is preventing Sims 4 from loading. Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.
The issue I have run into now is that all of my Sims 4 save files from the beginning of 2024 have gone missing, including Lots and Households that were uploaded to My Library. The only thing remaining from 2024 is a singular house I built and uploaded to the Gallery last week (but not the save file that I built it in).
Unable to start: The contents of your user data directory were created by a newer version of The Sims 4 and cannot be loaded. Please update your game via Origin to play. There are only two safe solutions - deleting Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 folder (you will lose all saves, mods, options, etc.) or updating your game.
if your mods do show up, they're in the right subfolder. make sure the main path is the same for the saves (by default documents / electronic arts / the sims 4). if you still don't see them, try creating a new save so you get the 'load game' button on the main menu. then go there, see if your other saves show up as thumbnails.
I researched how to fix this new issue and NOTHING WORKS. I've tried moving my Sims file around (out of the icloud, then back in, then to documents, then to desktop) but nothing. I have disabled my computer from automatically backing up to icloud and that didn't restore the saves either.
28 cze 2024 · If you are using MO2, your Oblivion.ini is stored inside your game instance folder, not in your Documents folder, and can be accessed here: I might add more recommended ini settings to this section later.
Use the following steps for Windows or Mac to back up and reset your game. Go to My Documents. Open the Electronic Arts folder. Find The Sims 4 folder. Right-click on it and choose Copy. Go to your Desktop. Right-click on a free space and choose Paste. Right-click on the copied folder and choose Rename.
