There are two common variations of oblique projection: cavalier and cabinet projections. In cavalier projection, the receding lines (those that represent the object’s depth) are drawn at their full scale, often resulting in a somewhat distorted appearance since the depth is not reduced.

Oblique projection is a method of drawing objects in 3 dimensions. It is quite a simple technique compared to isometric or even perspective drawing. However, to draw accurately in oblique projection traditional drawing equipment is needed (see diagram below).
Oblique. Introduction. In an elevation oblique drawing the frontal plane is an orthographic elevation and the side planes are drawn at 30° 45° or 60°. If a measured drawing is being constructed with 30° side planes, it's lengths are not fore-shortened. If 45° or 60° side planes are used, all lengths are halved to minimise the optical distortion.
