Naval Hospital Oakland, also known as Oak Knoll Naval Hospital, was a U.S. naval hospital located in Oakland, California that opened during World War II (1942) and closed in 1996 [1] as part of the 1993 Base Realignment and Closure program. [2]
From this 597-bed, fully equipped and staffed modern hospital center, its satellite naval hospital at Lemoore, and its numerous branch clinics, health care was provided throughout the region to nearly 200,000 active duty and retired military personnel and their dependents.
