Here are my planning guidelines: Flat table-top layout with conventional O27 track; back and ends of layout are against walls. Continuous running for one or two trains. up to three pairs of 1122 switches and a pair of manual O27 switches (I don't want this to get too complicated) Dual reversing tracks preferred.
9 kwi 2024 · You should be able to find 42" curves in O27 profile. K-Line made 54" and even 72" in O27 but it's a bit harder to find. My entire layout is O27 tubular track and I only use 27" curves in the yard where smaller switchers roam. I could take a look and see if I have any extra curves to sell.
However, not all O scale trains can run on O27 tracks because of the turn radius. There are more similarities between the O and O27 gauge tracks. For example, they both require at least 8 pieces of curved tracks to make a circle amounting to a 45° turn.
25 sty 2010 · You could just fit O27 rails inside an O31 circle; but the rail flanges would be overlapping. O27 fits better inside an O34 circle; but anything longer than a Kickapoo still couldn't pass. A lot of "O31" stuff will actually work on O27. And much that won't can be modified.

19 lis 2015 · Many hobbyists turn their nose up at O27 track, but you can easily run large trains on O27 track with wider-diameter curves. While both track types are too large to be scale-sized, the lower profile of O27 is closer to scale than O31.
