Testing Accommodations Guidance. This guide supports individuals who are responsible for determining testing accommodations for students with IEPs. Testing accommodations must be determined on an individual basis and justified based on student needs identified in the Present Levels of Performance.
Students may receive testing accommodations on College Board exams, including the SAT School Day exam. Families must give their consent for the Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) Coordinator at their child’s school to apply for accommodations on their child’s behalf.
The SHSAT is the only criteria used to admit students to the eight testing Specialized High Schools; no other criteria are used. You can view our video How Students Get Offers to the Eight Testing Specialized High Schools detailing the process.
There are two sample tests in this packet, and you can use them in any way you want; you are encouraged to use at least one of the tests to practice taking a full test under timed conditions. You have 180 minutes to complete the test; eligible English Language Learners or students with
⁃ Know the purpose of testing accommodations ⁃ Define testing accommodations ⁃ Understand their role in supporting a student with their testing accommodations ⁃ Recognize that instructional accommodations used in the classroom should be aligned with the testing accommodations provided during assessment.
Special Education includes services, programs, and specially designed instruction to meet the individual needs of a student with a disability. Students with disabilities who require special education services have Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
