GENUINE IVORY COLT SAA GRIPS. This pair of grips were made from legally imported elephant ivory. They have been made oversize. We have included the wood spacer to aid in final fitting. These grips do have a crack that has been sealed and mended.
Here in our workshop we manufacture custom handcrafted gun grips. The grips are the part of the gun that connects it to the man. They must feel right and most of all they must be fit properly.
2 maj 2004 · Remove the Grip. Heat a needle to cherry red on your stove. Touch the point to the back of the grip. If it melts, it's plastic or polymer. If the smoke smells like burning hair, it's ivory. This is the one foolproof test collectors of ivory do frequently.

29 lis 2011 · Nutmeg Sports sells his SAA ivory grips on gunbroker for around $300 + or -. Carving can be great, like the ones shown above, or sloppy. Generally you can add about $200 for nice carving. Ivory carvers are artists, and the price can vary quite a bit depending on how much the carver values his time.
20 gru 2010 · The two grip makers I know of are Dan Chesiak and Jim Aliamo of Nutmeg Sports. If anybody has had grips made from either one (or both) of these guys I would very much appreciate any help in decideing who to use for this job.
