As of December 31, 2022, the number of prisoners under the jurisdiction of Michigan correctional authorities was 32,374 located in 27 state prisons and held in custody of private prisons or local jails. State operated facilities had a staff of 1,850 employees and a budget of $2,124,968,000.
25 mar 2021 · As of Dec. 31, 2019, the state had 38,053 people incarcerated in the state’s prison system, a 1.8 percent dip from where it stood at the end of 2018, but a 26.1 percent drop from 51,515 — the highpoint of the state’s prison population, reached in 2006. Then came COVID.
29 lut 2024 · According to the figures recently published in the MDOC’s 2022 Statistical Report, there were 32,374 people incarcerated in Michigan prisons at the end of 2022, up 188 people or 0.6 percent from the year before. Meanwhile, the average minimum prison sentence in our state continues its upward climb.
