The peninsula is located south of mainland China, bordered by the Sea of Japan (East Sea) to the east, Korea Bay and the Yellow Sea to the west, and the Korea Strait to the south. North Korea shares land borders with China to the north, South Korea to the south, and has an 18 km (11 mi) long border with Russia to the northeast.
