28 lip 2011 · I can drag the URL to the desktop and it creates the shortcut. I right clicked on the icon and changed the "open with" to Safari but when I then double click the icon it still opens in the default browser, Chrome.

1 paź 2012 · Make a copy of the shortcut to your non-standard browser; Right click shortcut and choose properties; Find the Target-field on the Shortcut tab and just put the url you want to visit at the end of what's already there. Be sure to add a space before your addition
15 gru 2023 · Is there a way to have a shortcut to change the default web browser? I checked the shortcuts app but couldn't find anything. Ideally there would be a menu bar item with a drop down menu.
23 lut 2014 · Hacky workaround which opens the (non-default) browser before opening the URL: open -a safari; sleep 2; open -a safari http://apple.stackexchange.com. It might be necessary to adjust the wait time depending on the speed of the system.
I came up with a very simple method to create a desktop shortcut to open a website in a browser other than the default browser. One caveat: This only works for ONE website that you want to open with a particular non-default browser. In my case, Firefox is my default browser.
14 lis 2017 · I am looking for a solution that will allow me to create a desktop icon that when clicked will open a url in the user's default browser. The solution should work for mac & windows (or alternatively will need a separate solution for windows and mac).
15 paź 2014 · Open the webpage in your preferred browser, then click on the website's icon on the left of the URL bar and drag it to your Desktop. This creates a shortcut. Applescript to create a webpage shortcut seems like the hard way.
