9 sie 2023 · Nitro V is a great choice for those who want a steel with excellent edge retention and corrosion resistance, while S30v is a better choice for those who need a steel that is tough and can withstand more demanding conditions.
19 paź 2021 · For the toughness v edge retention graphs, are they relative to each other between steel types (carbon & low alloy v. high alloy v. stainless). E.g., does 14C28N have similar toughness as 3V (both 9), and does S60V have similar edge retention as Vanadis 8 (both 7)?
Thinking about buying some of CIVIVI’s newer models and I’ve noticed a lot of them use Nitro-V steel, how does it compare to similarly priced stainless steels like S30V and VG10?
I prefer Nitro V. Its a lot tougher and has better corrosion resistance. It also takes pretty much any edge you want to put on it. D2 may have a bit better edge retention (Depending on heat treat) but I don't think that outweighs the toughness and corrosion resistance.
Is Nirto V better at edge retention than s30v? Nitro V is AEB-L with added nitrogen and vanadium. AEB-L is a real old timer razor steel that takes an absolutely fantastic hair popping edge super easily (bonus: Michael Walker's personal favorite steel). Nitrogen behaves a bit like adding more carbon, except that it wont make it more rust prone.
5 mar 2023 · Nitro V Steel vs S30V. Just like S35VN, S30V forms hard carbides that give it an all-around good performance in terms of edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance over Nitro V knife steel. Nitro V beats S30V in ease of sharpness and may even beat S30V in sharpness if sharpened to perfection.
23 wrz 2019 · Nitro-V has a very fine microstructure and very good toughness when compared with other steels. Overall the properties of Nitro-V are expected to be similar to AEB-L with perhaps an improvement in corrosion resistance.
