I'm consider the Nikon D80 and the Canon Rebel XSi for my first dSLR. I'd be purchasing them with their associated 18-55 mm stabilized kit lenses. I've read MANY professional and consumer reviews on the XSi, but not too many on the D80 as I only recently started considering it because of price drops.
19 mar 2017 · I had been looking at the Canon Xsi, but the clerk convinced me that the D80, though an older model, was more camera for my money (under $700). (I had ruled out the D40/D60s because they wouldn't AF with the 50mm/1.8 lens -- which is the only lens I'll be using for a while.)
Nikon D80 has a "Nikon DX"-sensor while Canon EOS Rebel XSi has a "Canon APS-C"-sensor, and their difference in sensors will also affect the crop factor and experience focal length. See the table below.

I am plannig to buy my first DSLR and I was wondering what do u think should I go with Rebel XSI or Nikon d80 and why?
The Nikon D80 and Canon XSI are about the same price now. With their respective 18-55 VR/IS lenses they are about 950 and 900 respectively. I understand that nobody know how the new Canon sensor will perform (having been so overpacked with pixels), but I was wondering which you guys think would be a better first camera for someone with no lenses.
