10 wrz 2018 · In 2015 I purchased the 300mm f/4 PF VR because of lighter weight and VR. So the 300mm AF-S stayed in the bag for about a year+. After this long period when I used it again it had developed the screec.... which maintains until today. However its just and only the sound, everything else is ok, the lens works as normal as always did.*
3 sty 2023 · Personally I find it a great lens for light weight walking around but 300mm is a bit short for a lot of BIF work unless the birds are large and relatively close so I often have a 1.4x TC mounted to that lens when out in the field. The good news is it takes a TC very, very well.
This 300mm f/4 AFS is significantly sharper than the 70-300 VR and 28-300mm VR lenses at 300mm, if and only if you're looking at the results from a high-resolution camera at 100% on your screen. This lens also weighs almost as much as those two lenses put together, and this lens has no VR so using a tripod is often a good idea.

22 lut 2022 · Nikon 300mm f/4 Focus Limiter and AF/MF Switch. It's more of a pig than most Nikkors to switch between AF and MF. Unlike an AF-S or a Canon lens, you have to move TWO switches to do this!
