The 18-200 VR I or II (same thing, really, the II just gives you a lock at 18mm to keep the lens from extending) - are great lenses as long as you: Don't expect it to shoot fast action in low light. Don't expect it to blow out backgrounds (bokeh) Do get it if you want.
I’m constantly trying to find information on comparing these two lenses and am struggling to understand the differences between these two lenses. Is there any realistic need to keep both of them? Share

9 paź 2009 · The new 18-200 has a tab to look the zoom at 18mm, and the VR lettering is gold, not red. Those are the only differences. Despite popular misconception, both lenses have the same VR system (VR II).
25 maj 2022 · Built for DX format DSLRs, the 18-200mm is more refined than the AF-S DX 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3G ED VR and more manageable than the oversized AF-S DX 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6 VR, while still giving a highly useful ‘effective’ zoom range of 27-300mm in full-frame terms.
