There are several videos on YouTube comparing the Mini's output against an actual Neo Geo or MAME: to decide whether an emulator is good or not, one has to compare it with either the real thing or the gold standard for emulation (MAME). Quality is always relative.
Seeing as arcade cabinets are stupid expensive, a Neo Geo was a relative bargain, even at its crazy price. SNK was absolutely insane for releasing a home version of their arcade hardware, but I absolutely love them for being that crazy.

26 lip 2017 · Neo Geo X: is it really as bad as they say? At launch these where blasted for poor screen quality, battery life and emulation. I understand that later firmware improved the emulation (particularly the sound), and hacked firmware can improve this further still.
