Pack shell with $stuff, insert dart with dart post coming through the $stuff to engage AR. Repeat for second barrel. The only thing I don't know is if the air pressure resistance of your packed chaff material can move the dart base sufficiently to disengage the AR and allow the second barrel to fire.
As for internals, not a huge amount. Upgrade springs exist but the stock spring is already pretty stiff to get performance out of the tiny plunger tube, so going to an even heavier spring makes the prime a little uncomfortable and doesn't improve performance all that much.
