Spring mod is necessary for the half-dart to shoot out. Without it the power isn't sufficient to eject it. The product itself needs to be bigger in size; it needs to either be plastic (not paper, it's too lightweight) confetti or big-grained glitter.
Check for cracks, holes, or other types of damage on the plunger/plunger tube and the smart AR block. Check the seal on the o-ring, and make sure the plunger tube and o-ring is well lubricated. Make sure you have good darts that don't have any holes and are not flaccid and soft.
