This paper reviews the historical development of public education policy in Nepal, with particular emphasis on implementation and achievements. The study revealed that there was no education policy in place until 1955 though the initiation of a public education system in Nepal dates back toward the end of the Rana Regime (1846– 1950).
Geography has taught continuously in Nepal with the College of Education (1956), Geography Department (1964), and Geography Education Department in Tribhuvan University.
