The State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) was created by the Texas Legislature in 1995 to recognize public school educators as professionals and grant educators the authority to govern the standards of their profession.
You must apply for a review of credentials if you are seeking certification in Texas and you hold a standard certificate issued by another state or country. A standard certificate is defined in TAC §230.111(c). Create a TEAL account and apply for access to ECOS Educator to submit the online application and fee for a review of credentials.
Requirements & Standards. 1. Grade IX Transcript (if not yet graduated) 2. Secondary Education Examination – Grade 10 Transcript. 3. Academic Transcript reflecting all completed years of coursework. An average of grades B+/B or better; at least a recalculated GPA of 2.74 on a 4-point scale, over your last three years.
