It closed in September 2008 and was scheduled to reopen in the Neonopolis Mall on May 8, 2009, in time for the premiere of the film Star Trek. The opening was then pushed back to 2010, and in 2011 the project was officially terminated due to a lack of financing as well as Cedar Fair announcing that they had lost licensing.

According to a 6 Feb 2009 article from the Las Vegas Sun, Star Trek: The Experience was to reopen in the Neonopolis Mall in downtown Las Vegas on 8 May 2009. This ultimately did not happen, for reasons as yet unknown.

27 lut 2009 · The once-optimistic plans to open phases of Star Trek Experience at Neonopolis in concert with the new “Star Trek” movie on a single date -- May 8 -- have been beamed to some far-off galaxy. The Experience won’t open until 2010 at the earliest, Rohit Joshi, head of the development company that owns Neonopolis, confirmed today.
There is currently a lot of talk about a new Star Trek: The Experience opening up in the Neonopolis mall in Las Vegas. From what i have read, it is looking very likely that it will go ahead. The props and materials have been licensed out off CBS, which is certainly a very good sign.
