Reporting Employment: Nurse aides are required to report their employment on a scannable renewal form. The forms are mailed by the registry to eligible nurse aides three months before the listing expiration date.
The renewal period on the registry is for 24-consecutive months and is calculated from the last date of qualified work that was reported on the Nurse Aide I – Employment Verification Form. Expiration dates are extended to the last day of the month.

A Registered Nurse (RN) is required to verify employment for a Nurse Aide to be renewed in the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry. The RN may be either a direct supervisor or another RN who has access to employment records and can verify that the Nurse Aide meets the requirements for renewal.
Nurse Aide I. The role of Nurse Aide I is an “unlicensed assistive personnel" position for which an individual has completed a program approved by the Division of Health Services Regulation (DHSR) and passed an examination to be listed on the Nurse Aide I registry.
