1 cze 2017 · In sustainability science calls are increasing for humanity to (re-)connect with nature, yet no systematic synthesis of the empirical literature on human–nature connection (HNC) exists. We reviewed 475 publications on HNC and found that most research has concentrated on individuals at local scales, often leaving ‘nature’ undefined.

It has long been argued that feeling a strong connection with nature is an important driver of engagement in behaviours that protect the environment (Leopold, 1949; Mayer & Frantz, 2004).Furthermore, nature connectedness is positively associated with various dimensions of psychological well-being (Capaldi et al., 2014; Pritchard et al., 2020).
