Colt now has a serial number look-up data base on their web site. You plug in the serial number and it will give you a list of guns it could be. Since the data base seems to be a work in progress, many newer models may not be listed.
23 maj 2018 · Currently, it should contain the overwhelming majority of serial numbers manufactured from the beginning through approximately 2008. There are still a small number of gaps, and missing numbers, however, most firearms should appear in the new lookup.

To use these tables, compare your serial number(s) to the correct manufacturer and model, and ascertain which bracket it falls into based on the year of manufacture and corresponding serial number.
16 lis 2023 · This is a proposed corrected correlation for serial numbers and years of manufacture. The largest correction came in 1873, as 3000 known deliveries to the U.S. Government were added. No correction was made in 1874 for the 5000 known deliveries to the U.S. Government, so some tweaking may be required in this year.
Enter the serial number, without spaces or dashes, to search the database. If multiple models appear for your serial number simply match the date with the appropriate model, as certain vintage firearms can share serial numbers between different models.
