The Hebrew word of the week is nasa ("to lift up, take up, carry"), taken from the weekly Torah portion called Ki Tisa. Nasa appears in the qal imperfect 2ms (tisa, "you take") in Exodus 30:12a of the Torah portion:
ňāšā' = nasa = NASA. Additionally, note that whether ňāšā' is translated to nasa or nasha depends on how people though the š was pronounced and hence even though nasha might be the textbook translation, nasa isn't wrong either - its just a simplified way to translate the word which doesn't account the pronunciation.
