In March 1812 Napoleon's Grande Armee was concentrated between Danzig and Warsaw, along the banks of the Vistula River. It was a multi-national army and consisted of Germans, Poles, Spaniards, Portuguese, Belgians, Italians, and others, by 'fear or favor' all allied with the French to fight the eastern nemisis.
