21 mar 2014 · Seems that mysql_upgrade needs to be run as user root and only root and a password needs to be set up for the user. Any other user with administrative privileges does not seem work. So the only valid command seems to be: mysql_upgrade -u root -p. Initial solution by Chris_H at FreeBSD forums.
If, after an upgrade, you experience problems with compiled client programs, such as Commands out of sync or unexpected core dumps, you probably have used old header or library files when compiling your programs.
22 kwi 2018 · How do I update to MySQL 8.0 from the default version (5.7)? It's important for me for it to make an update and not re-install MySQL so all my data won't be corrupt. There is not a lot of info regarding this issue since it was only released not long ago with tons of awesome new features!
I just run apt-get upgrade and many packets should be updated. I allowed them all (question after Disk Space and verification). After the download and my configured packages Ubuntu told me from an error in the mysql-client-5.5 update. With apt-get -f install this error appears:

29 maj 2014 · The path already includes C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.5\bin. I can run mysql or mysqld from any command prompt, and it finds the path. Whether I run mysql_upgrade from that path or elsewhere, it always says it is trying to find those two in the correct place.
