In Civ and Civ2, the game ended when your spaceship arrived on the distant planet of Alpha Centauri to found a new civilization. Indeed, this is where SMAC picks up, governing this colony.
Outside of ebay, they're abandonware by this point. I think 2K own the rights, but they've shown no signs of wanting to distribute them since the mid-00s with Sid Meier's Civilization Chronicles. I suppose you could buy that for an absurd price from Amazon and the money might get back to the rights holders.
