Civilization is a classic, a cult game, as it were. This is the game that started it all. The idea was brilliant, and so was everything else. It has a fantastic introduction, while the number of units, civilizations to choose from, types of terrain, and ways of negotiating is enormous.
Released in 1999 on Windows, it's still available and playable with some tinkering. It's a strategy game, set in a managerial, turn-based, licensed title, 4x, generated levels, editor / construction set and turn-based strategy themes and it was released on Mac as well.
