29 kwi 2013 · From the point of view of someone just learning (me), "Estoy muy bien" seems rather emphatic like saying "I´m great!" or "I´m excellent!" because the literal translation is "Very well" or "Very fine".
Muy Bien, ¿y Tú?: Quick, positive, versatile, reciprocal, friendly. Todo Bien, Gracias: Casual, neutral, quick, safe, professional. Estoy Ocupado, Pero Bien: Positive, busy, light, honest, relatable. Más O Menos: Ambivalent, relatable, realistic, conversation starter, comforting.
From this structural point of view, the muy bien marker could be initially considered an outcome of code-switching, but more research is necessary in this respect, considering the widespread use of the expression among the Catalan speaking community.

Here's a list of fairly standard responses to ¿Cómo estás? that would be acceptable in just about any situation. Keep in mind that these responses may come off as a little rude if you don't also say gracias (thank you) or ask the other person how they are. Excelente. Excellent. Muy bien. Very good/well. Superbién. Very good/well. Bien bien.
1 kwi 2021 · “Muy bien”, as a meaningful component in teacher-students interaction, has to be managed properly by foreign language teachers with the aim to develop the best possible interactional transitions according to their pedagogical goals.
Since bien is an adverb, “very well” is the more literal and proper translation of muy bien. If someone asks “how are you” in Spanish, muy bien is usually the most suitable response. Responding with muy bien is a short way of saying, “I’m doing very well.”
