This new traffic pattern will be in place for roughly 10 months as construction crews build two new bridges as part of Improve I-70: Columbia to Kingdom City and the overall redesign for the Interstate 70 and U.S. Route 63 interchange.

The project received bids for construction on July 22, 2020. The tunnel will be constructed entirely in rock with an invert elevation of 255.1 feet NAVD88 where it connects with the Baumgartner Tunnel and at elevation 291.1 feet where it terminates near the Fenton WWTF.

The pedestrian underpass project includes replacement of an existing tunnel under US HWY 63 and construction of a new, larger underpass in its place.
