24 kwi 2014 · They work by kinda putting a second transmission behind your first one. The second tranny is run by an electric solenoid that pushes it into gear when you want to up-shift. You get up to 50 or so with your normal tranny, hit a button, and it shifts into "fourth" gear and you can continue on.
4 maj 2014 · Squirrel is right, it is an assembly and they didn't service any pieces. I used to pull the bronze rings out from abusing the transmission (that's another story). I modified a pair of snap-ring pliers to let me pull the syncro blocks out and then tap the bronze rings back in and restake them. Then re-install the blocks. Almost like a new syncro.
3 cze 2016 · He can advice you re the Muncie transmission. The Borg Warner and Muncie four speeds are stronger, a lot stronger then the Saginaw and the better choice if you are making big power and abusing the rear with hole shots, big tires, slicks.
7 sty 2008 · Muncie may have built some three speed transmissions after the '67 model year, but the four speed was only a $102 option. In '66 there were a few syncronized three speeds in some cheap SS 396's, i think they were built by Ford and used by G.M.

29 mar 2015 · I believe that most any later model GM three speed will bolt in but might need a different clutch disk due to different spline count on the input shaft. From looking at pictures on CL I think you would need to use your original shifter arms on the transmission.
