Remember that mylar bags aren't mouse-proof. So you need to store them inside of something that is mouseproof - glass, metal, etc, or you will risk your long-term preps being eaten into by mice. Simply vacuum sealing your food inside of mylar and stacking them on shelves isn't good enough.
The short answer is no. Mylar bags are nearly impermeable to gasses and block light. Both are issues which break down your food over time. If the bag maintains its integrity (no pinholes or tears) any clean plastic bucket will do. The long answer is you might want to use food grade if possible.
I found vacuum sealable Mylar bags on Amazon and those have been my go to ever since. They come in rolls so you can cut different sizes and work with any Food Saver style vacuum sealer. It does cost a bit more but I don’t have to use O2 absorbers anymore.
