Invented by Les Moxon, G6XN, the MOXON is a stealthy gain antenna that's inexpensive and fun to build. It's a great Saturday antenna project especially for new hams seeking their first gain antenna. This antenna can be mounted on a simple push-up mast and rotated by hand or with an inexpensive light duty rotor.
GW4MBN, John, designed this wonderful vertical reversible 20 meter moxon: Here's his story. I decided to try a vertical moxon rectangle at my new QTH which has limited rear garden space. The rear garden runs roughly NW to SE, so a reversible moxon gives useful coverage.
The Moxon is one of the Best portable Gain antennas and easy to make! In this video I show how I made a 20 meter Moxon Antenna for portable operation like PO...
Early in 2004 I had started working on 20 meter PSK31 WAS and was not happy with the 20 meter dipole. I needed a better antenna. 1Notes appear on page 40. I started thinking of putting a simple rotat-able dipole at the top of my HF roof tower.
Making a portable Moxon rectangle for 20-meters is our goal. The design effort begins by breaking the antenna into many sub-assemblies. The dimensions for these assemblies emerged from the dimensional requirements, shown in Fig. 1 and the available materials.
MOXGEN: A stand-alone Windows program that calculates the dimensions of a Moxon rectangle for a near-50-Ohm feedpoint impedance, as described in "Designing Moxon Rectangles by Equation and by Model," has been developed by Dan Maguire, AC6LA.
22 maj 2024 · The pattern is almost cardioidal so that minimum radiation does not occur 90 degrees off the main lobe, but closer to 120 degrees away. The antenna at its design frequency is capable of better than 30 dB front-to-back ratio, with better than 20 dB front-to-back ratio across most HF amateur bands.
