Liturgical life. Visitors wishing to pray may enter the basilica free of charge during opening hours. The mass is celebrated on the high altar every day. Visitors may seek confession or discuss their spiritual needs with the Franciscan friars at any moment during the liturgical day.

I also like the parish feel to daily Mass at Santissima Annunziata, the timings are hugely convenient too as weekday Mass is every hour from 7 am until lunchtime and 6 pm too. A special experience is the very high celebration of Mass at Badia Fiorentina every Sunday at 11 am.

Basilica. Santa Croce is the most monumental of all Franciscan churches. According to historian Giovanni Villani, the foundation stone was laid on 3 May 1294 in the course of a solemn ceremony attended by the city authorities.
