1 sty 2022 · So no, a 2x molex => 8 pin CPU would not be safe and adequate, but if you have an ancient power supply that has no 8 pin cpu connectors, it would work if you have very low power processors, like let's say a 4 core or maybe a 6 core processor, which won't consume more than around 60-80 watts.
Is that correct? It struck me as strange since it seems to be a standard cable. TLDR: Are there generic molex 8 pin to 8 pin connectors available for PSUs, are they safe to use, and do they need to be specific to my unit? Thanks for the help!
To clarify, the 8 pin on the motherboard is an EPS header for your CPU. You keep talking about GPU power, which is a DIFFERENT 8 pin connector that would be attached directly to the GPU if required. Lower end GPUs get enough power through the PCI slot via the 24 pin connector.
24 lis 2016 · I had quite a bad experience using a dual molex to 8 pin adapter. One day smoke started coming out of my computer. I immediately turned it off and was wondering what was going on. The smoke smelled like burn plastic. Updon inspection, the dual molex to 8 pin adapter was melted down.
