International Steel Group (ISG) was an American steel company, headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, [1] which was established by the New York investment firm WL Ross & Co LLC to acquire the assets of bankrupt steel companies and combine them together in a new company.
It was formed when Ispat International N.V. acquired LNM Holdings N.V. (both were already controlled by Lakshmi Mittal) and merged with International Steel Group in 2004. On 25 June 2006, Mittal Steel decided to take over Arcelor , with the new company to be called ArcelorMittal.
