19 mar 2015 · The change has been dramatic: Between December 1968 and March 2014 188, MU-2 accidents around the world produced total 347 fatalities, according to the Flight Safety Foundation’s Aviation Safety Network (ASN) records. Of those 188 accidents, almost two-thirds—115—resulted in fatalities.
Inexperience with the MU-2's higher speeds, altitudes, and climb and descent rates resulted in many crashes. In Europe, pilots were required to obtain a specific type rating to fly the MU-2, resulting in roughly half the accident rate of early operations in the U.S. [4]
