In cell biology, mitosis is a part of the cell cycle when replicated chromosomes are separated into two new nuclei. Cell division gives rise to genetically identical cells in which the number of chromosomes is maintained.
Students describe each stage of the cell cycle (S and G2 phases shown) using the picture of the cell at that stage. Students will also summarize the stages of the cell cycle in a diagram. There is a link for them to research the G0 phase, which some cells enter.
