MIT’s MicroMasters in Stats and data science is unique among online DS programs in that it's very rigorous, with courses is mathematical statistics, probability theory, and machine learning that are equivalent to grad level or upper undergrad level courses on campus (I've done both).
From both a “branding” and a education standpoint the full MS is likely better. There are a lot of ones popping up online from reputable schools now that look pretty decent. See if you can find folks on LinkedIn who have done the program.
I’ve been taking several of the MIT EdX data science micro masters courses which are hard and fantastic but during interviews they mention “oh you went to MIT”. It says very specifically on my résumé “EdX micro masters MIT in progress”.
Don't know your background, but these courses required intense involvement, up to 3 hours a day, including weekends, to stay up to date. Take a look at https://micromasters.mit.edu/ds/faq/ , and feel free to use the contact info there to ask additional questions.
I’ve been eyeing the MicroMaster series of MIT in edX and I was wondering if anyone has done it/ has an informed opinion on them. My main questions are: is if it is worth it to pay full price in order to get the official certification (1300 usd total for the 5 courses)?
Supply chain MicroMasters grad here. For the SCM MicroMasters, we need to finish 5 courses plus a comprehensive exam. 1 of the 5 courses is self paced. Rest are instructor paced.
Has anyone done the MIT Micromasters? I've taken SC0x, SC1x, SC2x and I would highly recommend them. I know someone who did it who really liked it, and actually got accepted to the master's program afterwards. Would love to know if anyone has any advice on it/feedback at all. The best scm program I ever done. Wasn’t a huge fan of it.
