This program is designed to give current paramedics the training and education they need to become certified community paramedics. Community paramedics work with public health organizations and primary caregivers to serve patients in isolated areas.
The Community Paramedicine Program is flexible by design to meet the needs and resources of the local community. Expanding the role of EMS personnel allows healthcare services to reach those where access to physicians, clinics, or hospitals may be difficult, non-existent, or unobtainable.
The community based program will train paramedics to operate in expanded roles to provide non-emergency health services and help identify patient needs for local services. The training will allow paramedics to apply for the Missouri Community Paramedic certification.
