A person cannot buy or sell or offer for sale, or exchange for merchandise or other consideration, any game animal, game bird, or game fish (regardless of whether it was taken in or out of Mississippi), except as follows: The skins and sinew (tendons) of legally taken deer may be bought or sold at any time.
(1) (a) It is unlawful for any person to buy or sell or to offer for sale, exchange for merchandise, or other consideration, within this state, any game birds, game animals, or game fish, or parts thereof, named in this chapter, whether taken within or coming from without the state, except as specifically permitted by law or regulation.

Sale of Game Fish. It is unlawful for any person to buy or sell, offer for sale, or exchange any game fish taken within Mississippi or coming from another state. It is also illegal for any restaurant or public eating establishment to possess or offer for sale any game fish.
Sale of Game Fish. It is illegal for any person, while in Mississippi, to buy or sell, offer for sale, or exchange any game fish harvested in Mississippi or coming from another state. Commercial Fishing. It shall be illegal to possess while on the water, both commercial and sport fishing gear in the same boat.
Please note that Mississippi state law prohibits any person from selling or offering for sale or exchange any game fish whether taken within or coming from outside the state. Such sales are legal if MDAC has issued a permit to the owner of a private pond to sell fish grown or cultivated for stocking under the MDAC regulations.
Any person who buys, sells, offers for sale, exchange for merchandise, or other consideration, any wild bird, wild animal or fish that has been taken illegally is guilty of a Class I violation and punished as provided in Section 49-7-141.
