I got Mirena to help control my adenomyosis symptoms as the pill was no longer helping and I'm not interested in a hysterectomy right now. Despite a bit of a rough transition (diffuse hair loss, acne flare-ups, anxiety) that lasted a few months, I would say it has been a good experience so far.
I have had multiple Mirenas now, little to no side effects, no period, and 2/3 of my doctors were wonderful at placing it. Plus the time length of effectiveness has been increased to 8 years (per their website)! I personally highly recommend IUDs to anyone who wants a low maintenance birth control.
