The museum is free but donations are gratefully accepted. Its location is near both the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport and the Mall of America. Current hours are M - F 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Saturday, closed Sunday.

An interactive museum with both permanent and changing exhibits, the Minnesota History Center hosts concerts, lectures, family days and other special events throughout the year. The building is also home to the Minnesota Historical Society library and archives, a research destination for schoolchildren, family historians and academics.
An opportunity arose to rebuild a restaurant in a historic airport terminal in preparation for the 2018 Superbowl hosted in Minneapolis. Holman's Table was added to the lineup in January 2018 boasting a different dining experience from its sister restaurant.
